Hot Papaya is a sizzling variety that is a hybrid of two species. It strongly exhibits the traits of Echinacea purpurea in foliage and habit. This shaggy red flower forms strong, sturdy clumps with dark green foliage and resilient stems with maroon markings. Hot Papaya is a strong candidate for mid-border planting in flower beds. Leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall because they will attract finches and other birds looking for winter food. Attracts pollinators also.
