Smooth phlox/ Marsh phlox is an excellent garden plant that doesn't suffer with any leaf diseases.Highly recommended by Chicago Botanic Garden’s Plant Evaluation Program and also one of the winners of Mt. Cuba Trials. It thrives in medium to moist and damp clay soils. Hummingbirds are attracted to the intense magenta color of the flower clusters that bloom for weeks in midsummer.
Smooth Phlox is a host plant for the "Phlox moth" Schinia indiana. The Phlox moth is considered to be rare or critically imperiled throughout its midwestern range.
