Hosta 'Slim and Trim' is a small hosta variety prized for its compact, mounded habit and distinct, narrow foliage. It typically matures to a height of about 12 inches and a spread of 14 to 18 inches, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, container displays, or as a front-of-the-border edging plant.
- Foliage: Features thick, lance-shaped leaves that are medium to dark blue-green. The leaves are notably narrow (about 1 to 1.5 inches wide) and exhibit a slightly cupped, twisted, and wavy texture.
- Flowers: In late summer (July and August), it produces delicate lavender flowers atop reddish-purple or dusty purple scapes that can reach up to 16–18 inches in height.
- Origin: This variety is a seedling of H. 'Purple Verticulated Elf', originally developed by Herb and Dorothy Benedict.
- Sunlight: Prefers mostly shade to full shade.
